CtK is a Confessional Church

Churches often summarize and clarify the truths they hold in Creeds, Confessions and Doctrinal Statements. Doctrinal Statements are normally doctrinal expressions created and used by individual churches. Through the centuries, the Church has created Creeds as formal statements to define and clarify the bounds of orthodoxy – what is Christian and what is not? Confessions are also historic statements but are generally longer and more detailed. Confessions lay out in detail the ways that a particular Christian church or tradition articulates its understanding of the gospel inside the broader boundaries defined by the Creeds.

Christ the King adheres to and joyful uses The Westminster Confession of Faith and the Shorter and Larger Catechisms as our Confession. While the Bible alone is God’s Word and therefore the only infallible an inerrant source for our belief and practice, we believe these documents serve Scripture and the Church by providing a good and accurate summary of the Bible’s teaching.
